What it is: Oatmeal is a cereal and not a pasta and is made from many different types of wheat, but mainly from durum wheat. It is the product of the wheat kernel, since it has been heat-treated, dried and crushed.

Oatmeal is rich in protein, fibre and complex carbohydrates. It has a low glycemic index, which means that after consuming it, it raises blood glucose more gently and has a high saturation index, which means it satisfies you more than other carbohydrates.
